Their story
Lawrence & Fernando
Lawrence Naff
Lawrence Naff is an Oklahoma City native, visual artist, and jewelry designer whose creativity is woven into both his professional and personal life. Alongside his career in IT, Lawrence has built a distinctive artistic practice inspired by his lifelong fascination with crystals, gemstones, technology, and light.
His work combines natural materials with manmade elements, often incorporating crystal rhinestones, gemstones, and components from discarded electronics into intricate, shimmering mosaics. Drawing on techniques he learned while studying in Osaka, Japan, Lawrence’s work explores the unexpected connections between technology and nature, while celebrating the beauty, movement, and magic of light.
Lawrence’s art has been exhibited throughout Oklahoma and beyond, including at Paseo’s Studio Six, 1219 Creative with Inclusion in Art, Oklahoma Contemporary’s ArtNow, OVAC’s 12x12, ARTSPACE at Untitled, and the Texas Artists Coalition’s Juried Show. His work has also been featured in exhibitions exploring the intersection of art, mathematics, geometry, and design. Lawrence is currently represented by 1515 Lincoln Gallery in Oklahoma City.
For those who know Lawrence, his creativity is only one part of what makes him special. He brings curiosity, generosity, warmth, and a genuine love of making beautiful things into the lives of the people around him. His art reflects the way he sees the world: finding wonder in unexpected places and transforming ordinary materials into something that can make people stop, look, and smile.
Fernando Calvillo
Fernando Calvillo is an arts leader, creative professional, and longtime advocate for the power of art and culture to bring people together. Originally from Aguascalientes, Mexico, Fernando has built a career devoted to creativity, community, and creating opportunities for artists to connect with one another and the communities they serve.
Today, Fernando serves as Community Relations Director for the Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition (OVAC), where he helps build connections between artists, organizations, supporters, and the broader Oklahoma community. His work reflects a deep belief in the importance of making the arts accessible, vibrant, and connected to everyday life.
Fernando’s career in the arts spans both Mexico and the United States. Before joining OVAC, he served as the Design and Public Relations Manager for ARTSPACE at Untitled in Oklahoma City and held leadership positions in major cultural institutions in Aguascalientes. He was Head of Marketing, Design, and Promotion for the renowned San Marcos National Fair, one of Latin America’s largest festivals, and served as Director of the College of Creative Arts at Cuauhtémoc University, where he oversaw five major creative programs.
His background combines strategic communication, branding, industrial design, and the visual arts. He holds a Master’s Degree in Strategic Communication and Branding and a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design, and has pursued additional studies in trend forecasting and jewelry making in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He has also shared his knowledge through teaching design and jewelry-making, including work intended to help people develop creative skills and economic opportunities within their communities.
For Fernando, art has never simply been about what hangs on a wall. It is about people, connection, possibility, and community. Through his career, friendships, mentorship, and advocacy, he has helped countless people see the arts as a place where they can belong, create, and grow.
Their Life Together
Lawrence and Fernando’s story is one built around creativity, adventure, community, and love.
Married in 2021, they have created a life together in Oklahoma City surrounded by art, friendship, and the people and places that inspire them. Both have devoted their lives to the arts in different but beautifully complementary ways: Lawrence through his own creative practice as an artist and designer, and Fernando through his work connecting artists, organizations, and communities.
Together, they share a love of art, travel, discovery, and experiencing the world side by side. They are cherished members of Oklahoma City’s arts community and have built friendships and connections that extend far beyond the galleries, exhibitions, and organizations where they have worked.
In October 2026, Lawrence and Fernando traveled to Spain to enjoy a vacation together—another adventure in a life they have spent building side by side. On October 28, their journey was unexpectedly interrupted by the devastating train collision in Toledo.
Today, friends, family, artists, colleagues, and loved ones across Oklahoma, Mexico, and beyond are standing together in hope for Lawrence and Fernando.
They have spent their lives bringing people together through art, creativity, and community. Now, their community is coming together for them.
Your words and your support both matter.
